Meet James. You will hear more about James and his journey with Marfan syndrome on January 21.
James Richardson is a curious, talkative five year old who lives in San Francisco, California with his mom, dad, sister, and dog. He enjoys math, the weather, Star Wars, and grunge rock--in particular, the Foo Fighters. James also has Marfan syndrome. Diagnosed when he was only two years old, James has health challenges like an aortic aneurysm, dislocated lenses, and low muscle tone. James and his family are very active in advocating for those with Marfan syndrome and other related connective tissue conditions. They have fundraised for the Marfan Foundation since his diagnosis, and have also traveled to Capitol Hill to advocate for healthcare access for all. James believes that Marfan syndrome is one of the things that makes him special, and in spite of all of his doctor's appointments and medications, he has a positive and upbeat attitude and zest for life. James's future is bright because so many people--patients, families, and providers--push for innovative research and ways to improve and save lives.
