HONORING:
Shaine A. Morris, MD, MPH
Texas Children's Hospital
Dr. Morris is a pediatric cardiologist specializing in cardiovascular genetics, cardiovascular imaging, and fetal cardiology. After attending Stanford University for undergraduate, she completed medical school at University of Texas Southwestern Medical School. She then completed pediatrics residency and chief residency at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical school and Boston Medical Center/Boston University, cardiology fellowship at Texas Children’s Hospital, and an advanced cardiovascular imaging fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital. She also earned a Masters of Public Health degree from Harvard School of Public Health.
A large part of Dr. Morris’ clinical practice is caring for children with genetically-mediated aortic and arterial disease, including Marfan syndrome, Vascular Ehlers-Danlos syndrome, Loeys-Dietz syndrome, and other rare related conditions. She serves as a Medical Director of the Texas Children’s Hospital Cardiovascular Genetics program, which provides comprehensive diagnosis, counseling, and cardiovascular management for young people with genetic conditions and cardiovascular disease. She also serves as the medical director of the Texas Children’s Hospital Fetal Cardiology Program.
Dr. Morris’ research interests align with her clinic interests, and focus primarily on improving outcomes for children with Marfan syndrome and related disorders. She specifically investigates factors that may help better predict long term outcomes, and how to use these markers to determine early in life how to optimize care. Her primary goal is to prevent adverse outcomes in patients with aortic disease so that they can live long and healthy lives.
Dr. Morris also thoroughly enjoys teaching, and is committed to helping train future generations of health care providers, especially in cardiovascular genetics, cardiovascular imaging, and clinical research methodology.
